Bryan was born and raised in the south suburbs of Minneapolis. Growing up he spent a lot of time at school, as his parents are both Lutheran schoolteachers. After graduating from high school and working a few different jobs, Bryan decided to enroll at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. It was here that he met his wife, Megan, and they both received Bachelor of Science degrees in Education. After graduating, Bryan accepted a call to serve as the 1st- through 4th-grade teacher and assistant principal in Tobias, Nebraska. The following year, he accepted a position as 5th-grade teacher and assistant principal in Eustis, Florida and remained there for three years. The next two years were spent as principal at Zion Lutheran School in Chebanse, Illinois. Along with administrative duties at Zion, he enjoyed teaching physical education and music to grades K-8. In the summer of 2012, he and Megan returned “home” to Minnesota by accepting the call to serve at St. Martin’s.

Bryan says, “I feel that my role as a teacher is to be the facilitator of the classroom. I must provide my students with a safe, respectful atmosphere from day one and throughout the remainder of their educational career with me. This environment is so important because without it, I believe students will not feel comfortable taking certain risks that are required for learning to happen. This environment will also serve as a model for how the students are to interact with others in a Christian manner. Every class of students has a wide-range of abilities and I strive to adapt myself to be able to reach all of those levels. I try to utilize several teaching methods so that I can best serve the students that I am caring for.”
