Lois Stark

Church Secretary and Office Manager
extension 100

I was born in Winona, Minnesota, to David and Arlene (Brevig) Stark. I was brought to St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona when I was two weeks old for baptism into God’s Family.

We moved from an apartment on West Fourth Street in Winona to Bluff Siding, Wisconsin, when I was an infant, and resided in a farmhouse upper apartment across the road from by grandparents and uncle. After living in the Bluff Siding for a few years, my family returned to Winona and I began my education in kindergarten at St. Martin’s Lutheran School in Winona.

I was received into communicant membership through the Rite of Confirmation at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church on May 15, 1966, and was salutatorian of my ninth grade graduating class from St. Martin’s Lutheran School in 1966. After graduation from Winona Senior High School in 1969, I attended Winona State University, where I graduated with a BA degree in Individualized Studies (concentration in the areas of Sociology, Business Education and Business Administration) in 1978.

My full-time work for the Lord as Church Secretary at St. Martin’s began in June of 1974, while I was attending Winona State University. Previous to this I worked at the Red Owl Family Center in Goodview and did babysitting / child care to facilitate attending college.

We resided on West Mark Street in Winona until March of 2000, when I moved to a home in Goodview, Minnesota, with my mother. The oldest of five children, I have two brothers, Dennis and Bruce Stark, and two sisters, Janice Dienger and Joyce Camerer. I enjoy doing search word puzzles and needlework and craft projects.

I am presently a member of Women In Mission (LWML) and serve as the treasurer. In the past I had served as Secretary/Treasurer and then Treasurer of the AAL Branch for several years, helped with the church youth groups, and served as Recording Secretary of the congregation.
