This academic year 2016 – 2017, marks the 150th year of Christian education that St. Martin’s has provided the Winona community. To celebrate this milestone accomplishment, many activities have been planned throughout the school year. We invite ALL St. Martin’s supporters, current St. Martin’s families, St. Martin’s alumni, members of St. Martin’s Church, the Winona community and dear friends near and far to join us in any, or all of the following scheduled activities.
CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF SCHOOL MINISTRY!
As part of St. Martin’s Lutheran School 150th Anniversary celebration, an all school reunion weekend is being planned for June 10-11, 2017. All former students and staff are invited to attend, along with anyone else that shares a passion for Christian education.An alumni banquet will be held on the evening of Saturday June 10th at the American Legion at 302 East Sarnia in Winona. A catered meal will be served by Steak Shop Catering and will include pork loin, meatballs, mashed potatoes & gravy, salad, hot vegetable and a beverage. Cash bar will be available. There will be a short program. Cost is $15.00 person. Advanced reservations are required and can be made using the provided RSVP card. Invitations & RSVP cards were mailed to the alumni and staff members for which current addresses were available. If you did not receive an invitation and would like to attend additional invitations are available in the Welcome Center, Church office or School office. RSVP deadline is May 15th.On Sunday June 11th, all alumni and staff are invited to St. Martin’s Annual Strawberry Fest in Sinclair Park (across from the Church). Strawberry Fest is St. Martin’s annual fundraiser and community outreach event. Grilled chicken dinners are available for $9.50 each. A selection of Strawberry desserts will also be available. Various musical groups will perform throughout the afternoon and there will be games for the kids. The school building will be open for tours – step back in time and remember your old friends and teachers, see how the school has changed.

YOU ARE INVITED TO OUR FINE ARTS FESTIVAL!!
You are invited to the St. Martin’s Fine Arts Festival and Invention Fair on:
Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 6:30 pm.
Our Fine Arts Fair will feature many different pieces of art from our students, along with many instrumental and choral arrangements performed on that evening. We will also have our 7th and 8th grade Science Fair. Plan to attend and see our budding “scientists” and outstanding musicians and artists within the St. Martin’s family.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR HAS ARRIVED ….
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR 2017 welcomes you to “Happy Camping Book Fair 2017” — Come and browse through the ocean of books! Reading is the seed to life long learning! The more children “picture themselves” into books, the stronger they grow!
The dates of the ON-SITE Book fair are:

STRAWBERRY FEST NEWS
Strawberry Fest will be here before you know it! This is the annual FUNraiser for the church and school held at Sinclair Park.
This year’s date: Sunday, June 11th
I already have some wonderful people who have signed up to do various things. Would you be willing to help? I need someone to head up the games area – line up donations, arrange for workers, get everything together before and during. Sound like a big job? Get a friend or two and make it a team effort! How about desserts? I need someone to help bake shortcake on Saturday before the Fest, and be there the day of to coordinate. Perhaps you’d like to work on lining up musical entertainment for the day? Would you be willing to help as a runner the day of as we need supplies? There are always other things that need to be done as well.
SERVANT EVENT —
St. Martin’s Lutheran School children, grades 5 – 8, along with students from Hope Lutheran High School enjoyed an afternoon on Friday, November 4th, of helping others within the St. Martin’s community by helping with some outdoor lawn care. We spent the afternoon raking leaves, pulling weeds , mowing and cleaning out flowerbeds.
We had a beautiful autumn day to help members of St. Martin’s congregation!
The 4 year old preschool class from St. Martin’s School enjoyed a tour at the Central Fire Station in Winona. Captain Kirk Skogebo, Tom Connell and Shaun Bartelson were our wonderful guides.
Two St. Martin’s students got a special treat this week —
a ride home on the Winona fire truck!!!
The St. Martin’s Lutheran School Alumni participated in an alumni volleyball after the Mustang’s season opener with Lake City. We thank everyone that came to help our school celebrate 150 years of Christian Education within the Winona community. To God all Praise and Glory!

SPECIAL RIBBON CUTTING CELEBRATION:
On Thursday, September 1st, members of the Winona Chamber of Commerce came to St. Martin’s Lutheran School to help in our year-long celebration of 150 years of faith and service to the Winona community. We celebrated our 150th year by a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Parent, students, staff and members of St. Martin’s church were on-site for this special event! To God all praise and glory!

ST. MARTIN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM 2016
We had a great start to our Cross Country season! On Saturday St. Martin’s hosted the conference Invite Cross Country meet. We had over 65 runners from grades 3 – 8 present for the meet! We thank all our volunteers that helped to make this morning successful! Congratulations to our Mustang runners — Lilianna Herber for placing 3rd out of 20 runners, Jon Going for placing 2nd out of 18 runners and Ellie Glodowski for placing 1st out of 6 runners. Ellie posted the fastest female time of the meet! Way to go Mustangs! A BIG thank you to Joshua Hill for coaching these young runners!
The St. Martin’s Cross Country team is made up of runners from grades 4 – 7. They are: Wyatt Pohlman (4), Sarah Glodowski (4), Uvone Alcott (4), Averi Spalding (4), Zoe Hill (4), Kaylee Vanderzee (5), Lilianna Herber (5), Jon Going (5), Betsy Nagel (6), Cody Hill (6) and Ellie Glodowski (7).

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS WITH GRANDPARENTS!
On Wednesday, September 14th, we celebrated the importance of grandparents in the lives of the young people at St. Martin’s School. They attended a special chapel, lunch and recess with our children! Thank you to everyone that attended — you are very special and we are blessed to have you as a part of our school family!!
