extension 130

Bonnie was born in New Germany, Minnesota. She was blessed to have a Lutheran education from kindergarten through college at St. Mark’s Lutheran Elementary in New Germany, Minnesota; Lutheran High School in Mayer, Minnesota; and Concordia University Nebraska. She is married to Larry Finke, also a Lutheran educator. Bonnie and Larry have six children and six grandchildren.

After graduating from college, Bonnie taught in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Watertown, Minnesota. The following years were spent being a stay-at-home mom and foster mom. In 2004, Bonnie taught special education at Wilkinson Public School in Williston, North Dakota for a year and then two-plus years teaching sixth grade at Trinity Christian School, also in Williston. After moving to Winona in 2008, she spent a year substitute teaching in the Winona Public Schools and came to St. Martin’s in the fall of 2009 as the fifth and sixth grade teacher. At present, she is the first and second grade teacher.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in education, Bonnie believes her best training for teaching comes from her own children’s experiences in school. She loves the time spent with children and values each one of them as a precious child of God.
